Recent Developments in EU Law: A partnership with EUBA and Ireland for Law
The Irish Centre for European Law (ICEL) is pleased to announce that it will collaborate with the EU Bar Association (EUBA) and Ireland for Law to host EUBA’s Annual Conference. The Conference will take place at the Embassy of Ireland, Belgium at Rue Froissart 50, 1040 Etterbeck, Brussels. The core theme of the Conference is to examine recent developments in the EU, with a particular focus on legal developments of relevance to Ireland.
The Conference will comprise of a keynote address, two moderated panel discussions focused on recent developments in EU law of particular relevance to Ireland. The Conference will conclude with a networking recpetion.

Dr Síofra O’Leary, former President of the European Court of Human Rights, will deliver the keynote address which will be themed Oversight of common values and Article 2 TEU: Mind the gaps.
Following the keynote address, Judge Suzanne Kingston, General Court of the European Union, will moderate the first panel which will be themed “Global Trade at a Time of Tension”. The panel members will be:
(i) Francis Kieran SC
(ii) Josephine Norris, Commission Legal Service
(iii) David O’Sullivan, EU Sanctions Envoy.
Judge Eugene Regan, Court of Justice of the European Union will Chair the second panel which will be themed “Regulating Big Tech”. The panel members will be:
(i) Niamh Sweeney, Commissioner for Data Protection
(ii) Linsey McCallum, European Commission
(iii) David Fennelly SC
(iv) Emily Egan-McGrath SC.
