Employment Law Conference – 27 March 2019

The ICEL intends to hold a major international conference on EU Employment Law.
The topics addressed at the conference will include: the gender pay gap; the recent decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in Minister for Justice and Equality & Anor v Workplace Relations Commission & Ors, in which it was held that the Workplace Relations Commission had the power to disapply provisions of national legislation which were contrary to EU law; the recent decision of the Supreme Court in Glegola v Minister for Social Protection [2018] IESC 65, in which Francovich damages were awarded against the State for breach of EU employment law. There will also be discussion of recent developments in the law on discrimination on grounds of disability, age, and religion.
